New data - SOFR3, Lumber, Bitcoin and Ethereum

We have recently expanded our data coverage to better serve traders and investors who rely on our platform for seasonal commodities analysis. Here’s a quick summary of what’s new and why we’ve added these datasets.

New Lumber Contract

The old CME Random Length Lumber Futures Contract (ticker LB/LBS) has been discontinued and replaced by the new Lumber Futures contract (ticker LBR). This change was implemented to enhance liquidity and attract new demand. However, historical data for the old LB contracts remains available on our platform for analysis.

SOFR3 - Eurodollar replacement

The 3-month USD LIBOR rate, which served as the underlying for Eurodollar futures, has been discontinued. Its replacement is the Secured Overnight Funding Rate (SOFR). In response, the CME introduced 3-month SOFR futures (ticker SR3). Historical data for Eurodollar contracts remains available on our platform for analysis.

Crypto - Bitcoin, Ethereum

Digital assets have firmly established themselves in mainstream finance, which is why we have added both full and micro contracts for Bitcoin (tickers BTC, MBT) and Ethereum (tickers ETH, MET). The micro-sized contracts allow traders to fine-tune their risk exposure and potentially use smaller capital.

Limitations

The newly added commodities offer limited historical data, which restricts the calculation of seasonal strategies and historical patterns. For example, Lumber has only three years of data, so no patterns or strategies can be generated. The others have at least five years of history, allowing for five-year patterns and strategies.
